What's the big idea?

Well I'm no Joss Naylor, so to do a proper 50 at 50 seemed a little implausible to say the least, considering the trouble I had completing the 42 in my mid 30's. So I had to think of another way to mark my half century - a 50 mile bike ride perhaps? No, that still seems a bit easy - better save the idea for a couple more decades; a 50km walk then? I have a route marked out on my West Pennine Moors map but I've covered that ground so many times before and much as I love the moors around Darwen I'm not looking to do a downgraded Bob Graham.

So how about this... 50 fell races at the age of 50. I've done more than 40 in a year before (albeit nearly 20 years ago) and I've been running on the fells for more than 20 years so I should know my way around by now. I have done more than 100 different races over the years, never come near to winning one, obviously, but I have made the top 10 a handful of times, in the small races, when the fast lads had other races to go to, so perhaps I can call myself a fell runner. So here we go then, starting from 30th October 2013, and for good measure, lets see if I can beat 50% of the field in any or all of the races.
